Call to artists in any medium to share their visions of the natural world at the University of Alberta Devonian Botanic Garden in an outdoor art exhibit to be held on July 21, 2013. "Rooted II: Perspectives on the Natural World", is an annual juried show that explores the artist's relationship to nature. While it is anticipated that many submissions will focus on visual media, we welcome and encourage submissions in other forms. Show us how you love the world in paint, in textile, in photography, in mixed media, in word or with sound - or surprise us. Consideration will be given to artistic merit and quality work that represents unique, unusual and varied responses to the natural world.
There is no charge for participation in this exhibit. Artists are welcome to sell their work, but must have a method of receiving their own payments. Tents, tables and chairs are provided. Artists are responsible for their own displays and must be present at the Garden from 9 am until 5 pm. Artists are welcome and encouraged to work en plein air during the event.
Submit three sample works, accompanied by a 150 word artist statement and bio, by email to: mlawlor@ualberta.ca with "Rooted" in the subject line.

Salon-style exhibition - Call for works
Hi,
I have some interesting information about a small exhibition opportunity.
Atlantis Fine Framing and Studios are having an open show.
They are just putting out a call on Facebook and seeing what happens via social media... Interesting isn't it.
Go to their Facebook page for full details and get in touch with Ken or Melanie for clarification if you feel you need any. (I think he said one piece per person).
Hope some of you can take up this offer, because there is wall space to fill and an opportunity to put some work up for free!!!! And wouldn't it be marvellous if we created a bit of fibre and surface design buzz from this if many many many of you respond to the call.
Right I am off to stitch up that piece that I have had lying around for nearly a year!
