Port Moody Arts Centre
“Twisted” Themed Exhibition February 20 – March 13, 2014

Is "twisted" a state of mind?  Or is it a physical form? The Port Moody Arts Centre invites artists in all media to explore the visual meaning of "twisted" for a multi-artist exhibition of 2D and 3D art, scheduled for Feb 20 – Mar 13, 2014. Deadline: January 6, 2014

Eligibility

    The theme for the exhibition is “twisted” and work in all media is encouraged.
    Artists are requested to submit no more than 5 items of their work.
    Artwork must not have been displayed at the PMAC gallery within the last 12 months.
    Submissions will be juried to ensure that works are non-derivative, demonstrate skillful execution of the media and are entirely the work of the applicant(s).

Applications must include the following and be attached to an email with subject line “your name, Twisted Exhibition 2014”. Please include:

    1-2 Paragraph Artist Statement as a PDF
    Curriculum Vitae (for solo) as a PDF
    Group Statement (for group) as a PDF
    5 images of your work.  Images should be no larger than 1024 x 768 pixels at 72 dpi.  All images must be labeled 01_ LastName_Title through 05_ LastName_Title.  You may zip these files into one file.
    A corresponding list as a PDF, including labeled images, titles, media, sizes and years of work, as well as prices of work if for sale.
    Video samples should be no more than 1 minute in length.  You may link to video samples rather than attaching video files.
    Jury Fee - $15 per item (Payable by cheques/cash or please call our front desk at 604-931-2008 with your credit card number).
    Email Submissions should not exceed 5 MB.

Deadline: In order to properly curate this exhibition, we would ask participating artists to submit the application by 5pm on January 6, 2014. The Arts Centre very much appreciates the effort involved in making a submission and will endeavor to respond to all applicants as soon as possible after the deadline date. Please do not call about your submission.  Due to the high volume of submissions received, only those selected will be contacted.

Important Information: Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Application materials will not be returned even if a self-addressed stamped envelope is provided.  Please do not submit your only copy of your CD/DVD/USB. Appropriate care is given but no responsibility is taken by the Port Moody Arts Centre for loss or damage of submitted materials. Artworks accepted for exhibition must be ready for display, framed and wired. A 30% sales commission will be applied to work sold through the Port Moody Arts Centre.

EPCOR CENTRE Ledge Gallery Artist Residency 2014

Deadline: 4:00 PM on Monday, November 4, 2013
Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts is announcing a call for submissions of visual art open to all professional Calgary artists (please note that students are not eligible). EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts will select one local visual artist to create new work in the Ledge Gallery throughout the months of June and July, 2014. The artwork will then be exhibited for the month of August, 2014. An artist CARFAC exhibition fee as well as a total of $2000.00 in financial support to assist with material costs and subsistence will be provided.

CADA Information Session: Arts for All - Calgary, AB

The Arts for All Program is a pilot program for 2013 and 2014 that will invest in arts activity outside of the downtown core, with a focus on east Calgary. The first community to host the program is Greater Forest Lawn (Forest Lawn, Forest Heights, Penbrook Meadows, Erin Woods, Albert Park, Dover and Southview). Calgary Arts Development has partnered with the International Avenue Business Revitalization Zone (INT AVE BRZ) to engage diverse artists and arts organizations in the area, as well as local businesses and community members. The program offers two funding opportunities: theGreater Forest Lawn Project Grant and the Greater Forest Lawn Artist Award.

Art Sale Bigger and Better than Ever

The Leighton Art Centre's Christmas in the Country Art Sale signals the start to
 the holidays, especially for people who love art and fine Alberta crafts. The annual
sale takes place from 10:00 am to 4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday November 2-3 and
 Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, November 8-11, in the Leighton Heritage Home
at the Centre. Admission is free for the sale and for all accompanying children's
and family activities. And, there are no parking fees!

This year the Leighton is taking one of Alberta's oldest and biggest art sales to
a whole new level:

100 Alberta artists each offer 15 unframed paintings in watercolour, acrylic, oil,
mixed media... and photography - including 30 new artists who have never shown at
the Leighton Art Centre.

50 Alberta artisans and sculptors showcasing crafts from ceramics, hand-blown glass
and woodwork to jewelry, hand-made scarves and cards.
